Introduction

Welcome to my little corner of the World Wide Web. I made this site as a front-end project and also I can publish all my random thoughts and random stuff I want to write about.

I am planning on writing about tech, economics and maybe physics.

Technical Details

The site was written in Astro.

Astro inherently makes scriptless sites not as an afterthought much like Svelte and co. but rather as a first-class ctizen.

It was made with performance in mind so other than Astro it uses no other frameworks like Tailwind CSS or other frontend stuff.

The site’s typography is based on practicaltypography.com and uses the wonderful Hoefler Text font for macOS users and whatever serif fallback for Windows and LinuxI don’t have Windows, Android or Linux devices so I don’t know any fonts that work on those platforms, I’ll look into them once I have time I guess.. If the site has any problems on browsers and operating systems other than Safari and macOS, actually also including them, let me know.

This site also uses modern CSS features so colors stuff and a lot of other stuff (albeit it being noncritical—I tried loading this site without CSS and it works perfectly) might be a tad bit broken on browsers that don’t support light-dark but ha! screw them.

The Next Episode

ā€œThe original idea of the web was that it should be a collaborative space where you can communicate through sharing information.ā€

Sir Tim Berners-Lee, CERN Employee
albeit it, aesthetically speaking, getting a tad bit better these days? idk

The web is increasingly bloated, ridden with ads and locked behind walled gardens. I have nothing against ads online but, I would rather prefer and am attempting to make this space to return to the original vision of the web: fast, lightweight and personal. A page without content is just a shitty portfolio for an ā€œaspiring full-stack developerā€ so, albeit be me being the quite unamusing person, I’ll endeavor to just populate this space with some content. Also so I don’t feel too bad about only having two posts here.

Also, I will add some cool little features to this page, hopefully without JavaScript, to make the page a tad bit more interesting. Like the fancy header (that ā€œUndefinedā€ thing) for the homepage, modern CSS features and that SPA like animations between page navigations via the View Transition API.

Epilogue

I guess I’ll shout out the Bear people for the inspiration for this blog’s design. Also, probably the Foreign Affairs/CFR, The Atlantic and The New York Times people for having such great typography and web design.
